POLL: Whose Fans Are Most Organized? Palin, Cain or Paul?

Share |

Online support will likely make or break the 2012 Election, on both the left and the right.

We’ve created a poll to see exactly how strong that support is for three of the most talked about candidates.

You have until Sunday April 22nd @ 9PM to spread this poll to every corner of the Internet, and find as many Palin, Paul and Cain fans as you possibly can to vote in it. You call yourselves organized? Let’s see just how organized you are.

Short Link for Sharing:

Tweet it, Facebook it, snail mail it if you have to.

Our staff would like to see how much the Palin, Paul, and Cain supporters can organize in one week’s time. Again, repeat voters have been blocked, but we do not dare call this a scientific poll.

Now that you’ve voted, click on your candidate to visit their respective Facebook page and help spread the word. Don’t forget to bring the short link! –> http://uselectionnews.org/?p=3534

To Freep or Not to Freep.
    That was the question.

Well, one week later, plus a day to verify the results, it seems that Ron Paul’s fan’s organizational network definitely appears to trump Sarah Palin’s fanbase numbers, even though they, according to Facebook, are much more numerous. At least seven different Ron Paul based sites contributed to this poll, the top contributor being The Daily Paul. Three Palin based sites showed up in the top ten of our referring links, but only for the first three days of the week-long process.

The most interesting part of this process was the outrage that created the idea for this poll. Originally, our site has posted a question asking who had benefited the most from Huckabee’s departure, and due to a link posted on a Palin supporting website, it was quickly “freeped”. After some changes to the original poll to examine the numbers minus the overwhelming response (85% had voted for Palin in less than two hours, and at 2AM, 362 votes in less than 2 hours is a bit faster than normal, particularly when the other candidates stood at 16, 17 votes each…) our site received so many comments and messages from outraged Palin fans, unfortunately a few of them extraordinarily vulgar, that it was recreated and we allowed them to vote again, with the exact same results, but in half the time. They obviously wanted to vote for Palin, even though not a single person offered a response as to why they believed Palin would benefit the most from Huck’s departure from the race. A few even offered the knowledge that it was in fact the Ron Paul fans that (quote) “lived and died” for the freeping process. Thus, we created this “organizational” poll to pit the two fan bases against each other.

While this poll may or may not verify that Ron Paul fans are huge fans of “freeping” it does show that their network is much more interconnected, and can more easily get the vote out, at least to our site in particular, and results from a few straw polls, (CPAC anyone?). Perhaps a ground-based Palin vote operation would be more effective, which in the end is what really matters on in November 2012.

Now, here’s the kicker. Ron Paul fans got the word out, using their message boards, forums, and fan sites, of which both candidates have several. Sarah Palin fans seemed limited to just the C4P site, and a handful from Free Republic, who also had a Ron Paul fan base referral as well. But what we ended up being most interested in was the Cainiacs, and they definitely responded, even against such a huge force as the Palians and the Paulians. We’d never seen so many #Cainiac and #raisingcain hash tags accompanying a link to a post of ours in the months that Cain’s candidacy has been growing, and we have to hand it to them, they DOMINATED Twitter. The best part was that the majority of their posts were not retweets from us, they actually did what we asked, borrowing the short link from the article, and posting as their own tweet, more than any other candidate’s fan base. Posting the link and using it, instead of forcing your followers to enter into their browser a direct link allowed us to figure out exactly where the votes were coming from, that explains the large number of “direct” visits. We understand that you’ve probably never seen a poll where you were encouraged to freep before. :)

One last thing. Before anyone yells at us for “not telling me about this!” please note that the point of this poll, was that it was not our job to do so. It was your fellow fans. And thanks for voting.

Centure7 of the RonPaulForum, Don’t worry, we’re encouraging that kind of traffic for this poll, and this poll only. It was a practice in getting out the vote, and we wanted to see who’s team would spread the word around to the various networks the fastest, and to which networks the votes would come. Your arrival source does not discount your vote in this case. Yep, we’re encouraging “freeping”, just this once.

  4. stevedog says:

Only Ron Paul has the track record to assure a GOP victory. Well Sarah Palin does too, but let’s be realistic, Palin will probably win the” popularity contest” but the peron for the job according to Palin herself “is Ronald Paul”!!! Check out the video on youtube, if it still exists, of Palin pre 2008 election, where she just talks Ron Paul up! Its spool funny, because nobody ever called her a”RON PAUL NUTT”! In fact irony kills here, all of her fans are probably the ones exclaiming this, not even knowing she was the biggest of the Ron Paul fans!!! God bless this ridiculous nation of idolatory!!!

  5. Riding the Cain Train says:

Look Out all you young whipper snappers! Listen up! Cain has a ground swell coming up that will surprise you in a Mt St Helen’s style explosion all over this land. This man has the Financial Smarts, the Character and the Perseverence that will astound you. Just do a google search for “Herman Cain Youtube” and you’ll have plenty of examples why this man can help us pull this country up by our bootstraps and get us on the right track to the American Exeptionalism we “Old Folks” have fought for and always been proud of.

Now I have always really liked Palin for the wonderful mother and fine leader she has proven she is time and again. I’d like to see a team of Cain/Palin 2012. Let’s hear it for Wisdom and Honor in the White House. Something we haven’t seen for many years.

PS: @Brett, Paulians have always made lots of noise but when it comes to the real battle they just kind of… well… disappear. Don’t go away mad, Just go away.

And a huge shoutout to the Herman Cain fans for spreading the word farther and faster than any group via Twitter.

  7. MaryinMaine says:

Much of Sarah Palin’s support comes from people like my parents, who are techno-illiterates. I love them but they (and other Tea Party-members) tend to be older and less computer-savvy. Of course I’m biased. My own support goes to Ron Paul. Not a birther, not a truther, just a Paul-er.

  8. Politico says:

Sarah Palin? …. Are we really saying that she is the GOPs best shot? She would be chewed up and spat out by Obama and the american liberal media.

While I appreciate she has a large army of fans, her lack of experience and poor grasp of complex issues would spell disaster for the GOP

Check out PalinTV.com SarahPAC.com Organize4Palin.com Sarah Palin’s facebook and twitter to start with. The PalinTwibe on twitter is the largest political twibe listed under politics. That twibe is full of ‘organizers’ for Sarah Palin. Where is the Paul twibe? No where near the PalinTwibe. Then, check out all the other sites that support Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin has an army of supporters and have been silently organizing to get ready for her POTUS announcement.

Sorry, Paulbots, you are wasting your money your time and your passion on a lost cause if you think Ron Paul stands a chance against Obama. You all know that Paul stinks in debates.
This is where Sarah Palin will kill Obama. She has been debating Obama and killing him in her FB, twitter, and op-eds since he took office. When they go face to face in prime time, she will mop the floor with him. I can’t wait to see her take him apart in a live debate.
She is called, “Sarahcuda,” for a reason. Just look up the feeding habits of a barracuda.

    • josh says:

East and West coast voters hate Palin. Bad idea.

Also, Ron Paul has forgotten more about economics and politics than Palin has learned her entire lifetime.

  17. Joey says:

Well to answer the question, let me pose another question: Whose supporters can raise over one million dollars in a 24-hour period. Ron Paul supporters raised over one million dollars the day after the South Carolina Debate. It was totally spontaneous, and straight from the heart! I can’t believe this is actually a serious question. Even the MSM agrees that Ron Paul has the most organized, passionate supporters of any political activist.

    • Jillian Curtin says:

It is a serious question, as comments from various websites have said that Sarah Palin’s support numbers can outdo Ron Paul’s organizational network, and vice versa. We are putting both theories to the test, and have included Herman Cain’s fans to see exactly what they are capable of at this stage of the race. Thank you for voting.

  18. True conservative says:

I do think if the right wing media starts to treat him with the respect he pays to his fellow conservatives he has a chance. I don’t care who wins the primary republicans gotta pull together if were going take back the white house.

  19. Isn’t this a lot of fun Paulites? Just got the word out to our 5,000+ FB friends and will now get the word out to all of our other thousands of contacts. We are a Network Marketer and we make our living by building downlines so (neither) Palin nor Cain stand a chance in any online poll. We control the internet.

    Ron Paul 2012

    “RESTORE AMERICA NOW!!”

“Choose Paul for the Long Haul”

  20. Dmitiry says:

Paul Wins Polls. That’s just how he rolls…

  21. Blackwater says:

Uh, folks, Sarah Palin has already said she won’t NEED an “exploratory committee” Those things are for losers. When she gets in, sometime after July 4th, she’ll just get in period. And she will win.

Anyone who thinks she won’t run away with the nomination and slaughter Obama in the polls knows absolutely nothing about Sarah Palin. That crappy 2008 run was screwed by the morons McCain chose to run his campaign. A bunch of hired guns who will work for anyone, in either party.

Palin won’t do that. She’ll run HER WAY and it will be unconventional like she always does. All of the old “rules” for how to campaign mean nothing to her. She has a record of winning landslide victories doing things her way.

As for Obama, she’s been whipping him like a rented mule since 2008. She’s the only one who isn’t afraid to take it straight to him. She’ll go straight for the jugular.

Sarah Palin will be our next President.

    Count on it.

    • Brett Cates says:

Sarah and Mike are endorsing Ron, just like they did for Senator Rand Paul. The GOP is different. He is the only candidate that can beat Obama.

    • True conservative says:

well if nothing else fox news will be sure to give her plenty of face times if she runs. And then will praise her brillance to quit her job as president after two years to host her own show on foxnews.

    • JV MOORE says:

PALIN IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN BEAT OBAMA !!

  22. Danielle says:

Dr. Paul has a hard time getting through hard-headed media journalists (who are today subjective, not objective). It’s never been about him winning, but spreading a message. Nevertheless, you’re going to see a bigger fight than last time because his supporters have tripled if not more.

  23. Lus says:

Bad idea to test Ron Paul support online. No other supporters can raise $6M ($0 corporatedonations)in 24h with zero media coverage and without their candidate getting involved.

  24. Dave says:

Ron Paul supporters RULE the internet…and this time around they’re experienced, already networked, and even more organized.

  25. Dr. Kibble says:

Palin won’t run IMHO. If she does, she’s an instant player in the GOP race, but she doesn’t do well vs. Obama. If you want to get Democrats off the couch to vote, give Palin the GOP nomination or run her as VP. I predict that Sarah Palin will end up endorsing Ron Paul when all is said and done. Some may think that is crazy, but she bucked the establishment and endorsed his son Rand Paul for senator in Kentucky in 2010. I’m not sure if this will help or hurt Ron Paul. Perhaps it’ll do a little of both- help within the GOP, but hurt in bringing our Dem voters that may have stayed on the sidelines. In the end, I think it’ll have a net positive much like it did for Rand Paul.

Herman Cain is a flash in the pan IMHO. He got a media-induced bump in popularity after the SC debate, but his affiliations with the KC Federal Reserve board doesn’t sit well with the Tea Party. It also doesn’t help that he has absolutely NO comment on the war in Afghanistan. He needs more info to comment?

Ron Paul, regardless of the media backlash that is to accompany his campaign, will be there to the bitter end…much like he was in 2008 when he was even lesser known. You say you don’t mess with Palin supporters, but I’d say Paul supporters, though fewer, are even more passionate and better versed on the issues, by and large, than Palin supporters. They simply reflect their respective leaders. The Paul supporters are the ones who started the Tea Party and they are best classified as that “irate, tireless minority” that Samuel Adams was referencing in his famous quote: “It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds.”

    • Hawkeye says:

This post says everything I would have said except for the LMHO additions. I agree Ron will be there to the end, not only because he is courageous, but more because we won’t let him quit. He’ll be carried over the heads of the crowd of supporters to the convention floor if it comes to that. No one else in the public eye, politician or not, can meet his standards of integrity, honesty, and consistency for upholding our freedoms. Just like his son he will rise above the lies and slander to become the candidate to beat in the primary.

  26. Michael says:

    I’m a Ron Paul supporter, but I didn’t vote.
Because I don’t believe Ron Paul supporters are remotely near as Organized, because we consider ourselves Individuals rather than a Collection in a political party.

Many will vote because they like to see his name in winning % – and I don’t fault them. But I feel being Less Organized is not only acceptable, but to be Expected in supporting the One Candidate that actually represents Indivudal Liberty.

    • Lise says:

Wanting to be supportive of Ron Paul for President, I put my spiritual force to work and took the Poll.
But I had to look up the definition of the question first. Hope there are others who might like to do the same.

      organized, organised [ˈɔːgəˌnaɪzd]
      adj
      1. planned and controlled on a large scale and involving many people

“I voted believing that he was not organized enough, but I live in the possibility that his conversations will live on to election, with the support and organization of our young adults..”

  27. Clark_kent says:

Im a life long conservative and I read history,I read present day news and past news. I think Sarah Palin is a disaster and she should never be re-elected for any title of office. She has displayed her ignorance and she much rather throw political mud than to actually defend the u.s. constitution. She ran with McCain and had no moral obligation to say no to mccain. She is too ambiguous with her “faith”, her daughter is evidence that she was a bad mother. Sarah Palin was proven in interviews to no little to nothing about economics, shes a disaster.

    • Steph says:

For someone that professes to know history, you sure didn’t learn much.

Point to how Palin displayed her ignorance. Give credible answers, not ones from liberal bloggers.

It’s a shame you haven’t paid enough attention to her vigrous defense of the 1st and 2nd amendments, and you certainly don’t seem to understand her calls for a smaller, less intrusive federal government reflect the Constitution.

As to her faith, maybe you should do some more research on the founding fathers and what this country was founded on.

A bad mother, huh? Was Reagan a bad father because 2 of his kids were such d-bags?

Sarah doesn’t know anything about the economy, you say. Did you read her op-ed on QE2? Do you not understand her expertise on energy?

You are nowhere near a conservative, or you wouldn’t post such ignorance of a true Conservative.

      • DaveP says:

        OK Steph – here’s a couple:

1: As mayor of Wasilla, she left the city with ~$23 Million more debt for the big complex and other stuff that they built…the complex that they started building before the title for the had cleared thus forcing the expenditure on legal fees…seriously, that’s Development 101 stuff.

        budget data:
        http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2008/sep/09/chain-email/numbers-right-context-missing/

        hockey rink legal troubles:
        http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122065537792905483.html

2: Palin couldn’t name a newspaper/magazine that she reads for her news – no big deal who reads paper anymore…but she couldn’t even MAKE ONE UP. Loses points for not thinking on her feet to say the least.

3: She quit as governor. Not “decided not to run again to spend more time with her family”…QUIT. Halfway Through.

It’s nice that she gives lip service to a couple of cherished amendments…but all-in-all what we’ve got is one big:

        FAIL.

        • Charlie says:

Stop doing your research at moveon, org. If you haven’t figured out by now that the twisted garbage you just repeated is simply that, then by all means, stick to supporting the real epic FAIL. Barack Obama. They don’t call him “One Big A** Mistake America” for nothing.

          • DaveP says:

Charlie – I provided factual citations for my points – the Wall St Journal is not moveon.org…for that matter if you read the politifact article it’s all business and numbers.

Please provide support for assertion that the info I cited is “twisted garbage”. The only garbage I see here are your unsupported opinions.

        • Charlie says:

Dave, quoting a biased article from sev yrs ago by a journ-o-list is but a hairsbreath from moveon. Mayor Palin took a small whistlestop town on the road between Fairbanks and Anchorage and turned it into the 6th fasted growing city in the nation. Did you somehow miss that?
As Alaska’s governor, she cut earmark requests by 80%. She reduced her FY 2010 budget by more than one billlion dollars from the previous gov’s spending, and accepted less state per diem than her predecessors even with her larger family. She invested $5 billion in state savings. Her energy development expertise and achievements are unmatched. Just a sample of her leadership, DaveP. Do your homework.

    • Jinx says:

Let’s put it this way, Obama has never defended the US Constitution, never ran a city, never ran a state, and was a 1 term senator with no bills to his credit and voted neither yay or nay, but “present.” Palin was a bad mother and her daughter is “evidence” of that. What about Dad? Where does he factor in? Why is Mom the only parent who is factored in when kids misbehave? By the way, anyone who has ever had one or more children knows that you can’t watch them 24/7 and as they get older, they get more independent and secretive. Peers become more important in their lives than parents are. None of the Palin kids are on welfare, they earn a living by working, including her daughter Bristol. Is that the evidence that Sarah Palin was a bad mother? Palin doesn’t know anything about economics? At least she understands that you don’t tax people into prosperity, which is more than Obama and our other elected officials seem to understand. At least Palin didn’t say that we had to spend our way out of bankruptcy as Joe Biden did, and Biden’s comment indicates how little he understands about how spending throws people and governments into bankruptcy. Throwing political mud? Campaigns have been doing that for decades and Palin definitely had political mud thrown at her constantly. Ambiguous with her faith? Apparently the family walks their talk and Bristol didn’t show up at her local abortion clinic when she discovered that she was pregnant, nor did the Palins encourage her to abort. The family also admits to being Christian, which is more than many politicians will do. What did she prove in interviews? She at least proved that she was asked more difficult interview questions than darling Obama was asked and his policies are proven economic disasters. “Life long conservative?” You don’t sound like one, in fact, attacking her as a mother paints you as being a liberal who has no respect for women or mothers.

    • Charlie says:

What history have you read, Clark? In your reading of literature have you ever come across the phrase, “It is better to remain silent and let others think you a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.”?
Thank you for illustrating that saying so well.

  28. Bryan says:

Palin doesn’t need an exploratory committee she has a lot of backing. I know for the fact she is not going to form an ‘exploratory’ comittee cause she already has a huge backing behind her. She Palin has said her candidacy will be unconventional.

    • Michael says:

I don’t dislike Palin.. but I cannot in good conscious vote for a member of the CFR.
As to her support.. she is in the bottom 3 in the Republican race, and the bottom 5 overall. I don’t see much support honestly.

      • Ira Goldman says:

Governor Sarah Palin IS NOT a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) as I’m sure you know, Rontard.

        • True conservative says:

He did’nt say that more like he was pondering voting for her based on the other front runners being cfr members

        • Michael says:

I meant “And I cannot” I was not saying Palin was in the CFR.
As to your resorting to Name-calling as a form of response, I expect that from Democrats, and those who would support RINOs like Romney or Gingrich… but from a Palin supporter… sad.

  32. Right WIngnut says:

    Jillian,

The Paulites will post it on the front page of their various sites. C4P doesn’t do that.

    • Jillian Curtin says:

I didn’t say it had to be just C4P that posted the poll. I’m sure their supporters go to more than just that single website to support Gov Palin. I have faith in all three groups. I really just want to know who can spread the message the most.

      • Jillian Curtin says:

And right now, theyre winning, so I think they will do just fine.

      • Right WIngnut says:

Actually, Palin supporters don’t take these nearly as seriously as the Paul supporters. This is what Paulites live for….there’s just not as many of them.

        • Jillian Curtin says:

I’m just curious to see what happens here, because both groups have “overwhelmed” a poll or two in their day, and Herman Cain has earned more than 17,000 Facebook fans in the last few days since the debate, so I’m curious to see them come out of the woodwork as well.

          • Andrew Siff says:

Betcha Sarah’s earned more Facebook fans since the debate than any of the ‘debaters’!

          • Jillian Curtin says:

Quite possibly. Let’s hope she decides to use all of that support and start an exploratory committee and become eligible to debate. Or skip that step all together and announce, instead of keeping us all in suspense.

          • Andrew Siff says:

I think her exploratory committee formed spontaneously in late August of ’08.

So she’s waiting to jump in three years later in a race that according to her support numbers should be a cinch because?….

          • Andrew Siff says:

The race hasn’t started. This is all preening.

          • Jillian Curtin says:

What if she goes the way of the Huckabee? (Since I am interested in continuing the debate, and their situations appear similar)

          • Joe in Springfield says:

She’s delaying her announcement for a number of good tactical reasons, one of which doubtless includes FEC rules. Unlike McCain in 2008, she’s running to win, and she’s up against a likely one billion dollars war chest for Obama. FEC rules will actually make it harder to compete financially for those dollars once she declares. The longer she waits, within reason, the better. There will come a point of no return, where she must declare or withdraw altogether. We are not there yet. Be patient. Help in high heels is on the way.

Herman Cain is a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and a fox news puppet. Ron Paul is going to win the nomination. He has 356,443 facebook fans. You should join us:

            @Brett Cates ROFLMAO

Palin has just a few thousand shy of 3 MILLION Facebook supporters and over a half million following her on Twitter.

She is the leader of all social media.

Ron Paul is a fringe loon. All he is doing is stealing your lunch money so he can use it to keep his Texas congressional office. Real conservatives can never ever beat him because, thanks to you cultists, he can outspend the 100:1.

    • True conservative says:

So let’s say Palin wins then what? Does she quit that post too to make a made for tv movie. Face it Obama would rip her to shreds in a debate you gotta win swing voters to take Obama down.

      • Blackwater says:

Man, you need to go on the road with your comedy act.

Sarah Palin has been whipping Obama like a rented mule since 2008. She’s the only one who has stood up to him on every issue.

She’s also been RIGHT on every issue. She was raising hell almost a year ago over quantitative easing, and just now the rest are figuring out that printing money makes gas, food, and everything else cost more.

Unlike congresscritters and other poseurs, Palin has 20 years worth of governing experience. Most of it at the executive level.

She was slashing spending and building reserves in GOOD TIMES when Republicans and Democrats in her state wanted to spend ever available penny.

She made the largest budget cuts in Alaska’s history. When she left office Alaska had $12 BILLION in it’s rainy day fund. Oh, and a lot of corrupt REPUBLICAN were sitting in prison, courtesy of Sarah Palin.

Ron Paul is a joke and a fraud. He’s a HUGE porker who LOVES him some earmarks. His eighteenth century view of the world is insanity defined.

        His anti-Semitic stances are disgusting.

But by all means, raid your bank accounts and send this nimrod all of your money.

        • Misdeed says:

“His anti-Semitic stances are disgusting. ”

Would you please back this up with some evidence? And cutting aid to Israel and all other foreign nations does not equate anti-semitism.
