How To Vote To Save This Country
How To Vote To Save This Country
As a cardiologist trained at the Cleveland Clinic, with over 30 years
experience in the practice of medicine, and receiving my medical training in Italy under socialized medicine; I grew fearful for America’s future after watching the long-running debate surrounding healthcare legislation early in 2010. With such concern, I was inspired to write the book, ‘How To Vote To
Save This Country’, in an effort to empower voters to more easily determine the value of particular candidates. In the book, this was outlined by setting forth a system of analysis that applies the same sort of deductive reasoning used by medical doctors.
Because this is a very critical time in our nation’s history, more now than ever, who we vote for will influence the direction of our country. Americans voted for a Democratically controlled Congress and White House in 2008 and several years later, the unemployment rate, national debt, national spending, and government control over our lives have all increased. The two things that we have been able to decrease the most since that election are our country’s standing as a world leader and the value of the US dollar.
We need to exclude who are the candidates we should not vote for, before determining the “ideal” candidates that we as Americans should vote for and endorse. By comparing different categories of candidates and explaining the motivations and personality types of the members of each category, the voter can quickly narrow the field to the candidate most suited for the job.
The types of candidates not to vote for include:
1. Those who do not endorse term limits. If they do not endorse term limits, this candidate is more interested in reelection than in serving the people who voted for him/her.
2. Lawyers – They make up 40% of Congress and less than 1% of the country’s population. In general, they want to win at all costs and by any means and are unwilling to compromise. This was seen with the passage of Obamacare and this strategy is not what is best for Americans.
3. Bureaucrats – Many of them are not held accountable for their performance or productivity and their jobs always remain safe. Their jobs are protected by unions and they believe in bigger government which will only cause more inefficiency and more cost for the average American taxpayer.
4. Politicians – Those that say one thing but do the opposite. Americans must remember that actions speak louder than words. It is always best to value what a candidate has done rather than what he/she pledges to do.
5. Candidates supported by lobbyists – The lobbyists have self-serving reasons to improve their situation and generally do not consider what is best for most Americans.
6. Candidates supported by the mainstream media – They act more as a mouthpiece for the left and do not show objectivity or cover stories when it does not suit their ideology or agenda.
7. Union leaders – There was a time in our nation’s history when unions were necessary for the workers’ protection, but now these union leaders, like Andrew Stern, want to socialize our country. This will kill American productivity and result in more loss of jobs.
8. Teachers who are unionized or have tenure – These teachers have their jobs protected by the unions and generally will vote for their “pocket book”. This means they will vote for what is in their best interest, meaning pro big government, and to preserve their salaries and benefits, even if their views are not completely in line with the candidate.
The types of candidates to vote for include:
1. People in service industry – Those people in the private sector who serve the public and understand that they are accountable for what they do and can be fired if they do not produce or perform. They are used to making sacrifices in their jobs and this leads to the values and principles necessary to be more trustworthy and a better candidate.
2. Business leaders – They generally are entrepreneurs and have made full use of the American business model and have succeeded. They understand not only the financial aspect of their business but understand hard work, sacrifice and responsibility which allows their business to be successful. They create jobs in America and those with a proven track record who have integrity and honesty will be good candidates.
3. The Military – They are used to protecting and serving the public and do so selflessly, often leaving their family and country for long periods of time. They are willing to put their life on the line and lose everything for our freedom. These characteristics enable them to better serve the public as a candidate.
4. Non-Career Politicians – Those candidates who do not wish to use politics as a lifelong profession. They are more likely to endorse term limits, be more transparent and more interested in serving the public rather than getting reelected and remaining in power.
5. Those with Faith – They tend to have more of a service and sacrifice philosophy towards others. They recognize that they are answerable to God and understand that their actions have consequences and therefore are more accountable and trustworthy. Most of our founding fathers were religious and understood that government serves the people and that people serve God. They did not wish to be lifetime politicians
and made tremendous sacrifices without wanting power. These are the characteristics we need in our candidates.
By learning who is the candidate with the best qualities from an analytical viewpoint, one can better choose and vote for the candidates that give our country the best chance to move in a healthier direction where we the people are again in charge of our destiny as our forefathers had always intended.
